Our purebred Angus cattle herd, known by many as “the source,” is one of the most line-bred Angus herds in the U.S.
The success of a line-breeding program depends on (1) How good the animals are to whom you line-breed and (2) How seriously you are willing to test and select from the offspring that result. We carefully selected our foundation sires from the Certified Meat Sire Program and early structured Performance-testing programs. Then we rigorously tested and selected the best cattle from our calf crops, and we’ve done that for generations, stacking performance on performance on performance. Today, the cows and bulls produced in the Jorgensen Registered Angus herd have as many as 15-generations of performance-tested ancestors stacked to form their foundation. That’s what we refer to as Stacked-Performance-GeneticsTM. And that’s why cattlemen like bulls (and cows) from Jorgensen Land & Cattle. The performance has been bred-in to them over multiple generations.
